On "Reality"
“ 'All lovers young and old must come to dust.'
… a terrible line the more you contemplate it." —G.V. Desani
On Imponderables…
Ultimate reality is not subject to verbalism. For example, questions like, “Can an object exist and not be real; can a thing be real and not exist” constitute made up of words and are trickery into which one can fall.
According to a Hindu text the world is a dream in the mind of Vishnu. According to Sir Authur Edington the world is a thought in the mind of the creator.
Space & time have no objective reality but are conditions for certain consciousnesses (including) our own.
An object is real because of our awareness of it. Because one has a particular consciousness, certain things are real to him.
If it hurts, this is proof that it is real.
Problem: What is the present moment?
On Dissolution…
It is not necessary to die to understand the process operative in death.
Nothing that is compounded, or conditioned can escape death, decay, ending.
“All lovers young and old must come to dust.” A terrible line … the more you contemplate it.
A former student has generously provided these 'quotes' from notes taken in G.V. Desani's classes and in private conversations.
